In the late 19th century, the term ‘yellow peril’ was coined (by a white man) in order to warn the West about the dangers of East Asian people taking over the world. Yellow peril is the white man’s fear that someone else might become just as powerful as him.
Today, for us, Yellow Peril is about Asian-American empowerment and community. Here we we share, support, and mobilize. We’re striving for progress, not perfection.
Yellow Peril is yours! We want – and need – you to submit articles or think pieces, show us your artwork or music, or recommend Asian-American businesses to us. Or, simply get in contact with us; we would love to get to know and interview you!
